This is Captain - a remarkable service dog who came to us from a rescue situation. His story is still unfolding as his journey continues. When Captain arrived, he was in dire straits, having been rescued from a terrible environment. He was covered in over 50 ticks, tested positive for Lyme disease, and was in desperate need of grooming. Yet, more than his physical condition, Captain was very scared and a flight risk, having experienced significant abuse from his previous owner. Despite these challenges, Captain has shown incredible resilience and a heart full of love.

With dedicated care and training, Captain is transforming into a dependable service dog who brings joy and support to those around him. His journey is a testament to the power of compassion and the potential for recovery, as he learns to trust again while helping others in need. Some dogs naturally alert to medical conditions, we foster this natural ability and reward the behavior until its a reliable task, then we find the client who matches this need. We don't try to make the dog fit the clients needs but rather match the dog to the right client. Many of our dogs come from rescue and are getting a second chance at life, we want to make this transition as positive as possible for the dogs who come to us. So all training is possitive and geared toward what that dog wants to do. This makes for a dog who loves the job and wants to please.
